Mainstage Center for the Arts has 3 great ways to REGISTER for Summer Stage 2010:
- ONLINE
- By mail
- In person at our Open House on May 5th at the Dennis flyer Theatre at Camden County College
Summer Stage offers exciting acting, singing, and dancing programs for youth entering second grade through age 25. Eighth graders and above may also take advantage of the behind-the-scenes programs, Technical Theatre, and Video Film Production.
The Open House begins with a short performance previewing production numbers from this year’s Children’s Musical Theatre Season including: The Wizard of Oz, Once On This Island, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Broadway for Kids. The performance will also feature a glimpse of the summer’s Dance Explosion, where students ages 11 and up recreate Broadway classics and produce their own masterpieces.
Members of the Summer Stage 2010 staff will be available to answer questions about all nine Summer Stage camps, which progress in a fun way to help build skills and confidence among each age group.
The youngest campers, entering second and third grade, participate in Kid’s Stuff. This morning program provides a great introduction for those curious about theatre. Next, the program progresses to Apprentice, where mornings fly by for fourth and fifth graders as they learn the basics of stage performance in a relaxed, enjoyable environment. Both Kid’s Stuff and Apprentice culminate with a musical revue. Children that can’t get enough of these programs can stay for the afternoon through Storytelling Through the Arts, where campers enter the world of storytelling through ensemble play, crafts, and music.
In the next level, Children’s Theater, sixth through twelfth graders enjoy days filled with rehearsals and classes preparing for fully staged productions or participating in Technical Theater and Video Film camps. These experiences prepare participants for Mainstage, an evening program where ninth graders and above present a major Broadway musical. This year’s musical will be The Music Man. Finally, there is the Intern Touring Company, where a small group of young adults receive the opportunity to assist in staging, performing, and touring with an hour-long show to area parks, hospitals, and other venues.

My son is in his 2nd year of Summerstage and loves it! He is so excited that he can keep participating even as he gets older. Comparably priced to other summer camps, but infinitly more fun for him! Thanks for the perfect summer option for my son!
