Instructor: Anne Marie Weaver, combines her educational and youth oriented back round with her vast knowledge and love for the theatre. A graduate of Glassboro State College in Speech and Theatre education, Anne Marie has been seen on many community, regional and dinner theatre stages in the tristate area as well as a hand full of movies and commercials. Her biggest joy comes from working with students at Glassboro High School and the Mainstage Center for the Arts Summer Stage program where she has served as director for seventeen years. She is happy to be returning to teach acting classes at the Mainstage Center for the Arts for her sixth year.
Creative Dramatics (Age 4 - Kindergarten)
Through the use of familiar nursery rhymes and favorite stories the children will explore the joy of becoming their favorite story book characters. Working together the children will make their own costumes and props and act out these wonderful stories. The class will allow the children to explore literature, arts and crafts as well as speech, stage presence and confidence.

Kaleidoscope Kids (1st - 3rd Grade)
Self esteem will blossom as children build their own costumes and props, and design their own scenes. Specific stage skills will be developed through theater games.

Reach for the Stars (4th - 6th Grade)
This class will begin to examine the more technical aspect of acting as the children learn about physical and vocal warm-ups, stage directions, stage presence, pantomime, vocal inflection, projection and character development.
Thursday 4:30-5:30PM or Saturday 11:30-12:30PM

Reality Bites (7th Grade - High School)
These classes focus on more specific acting techniques including voice and articulation, projection, vocal inflection, inner monologues, character development, and auditioning; through the use of acting exercises, theater games, video tapes and performance. These classes will permit students to explore the more formal theatrical training and audition preparation.

Ah, I Need a Monologue (High School and Above)
Instructor: Darren Hengst
This course is designed for the student preparing for performance based college and general theater auditions. Students will be taught how to identify and highlight their strengths through monologues that compliment their personality and talent. Fundamental acting techniques with an emphasis on general auditioning practices as well as hints regarding what schools and directors are looking for will be shared. (90 minute sessions, 15 weeks)
