DANCE

 

THEATRE/MUSIC  

INTRO TO HIP HOP                                      Teacher: Maria Guldin          
Ages 5 – 10                                                                      Thursdays.  7:00-7:40pm
Hip Hop incorporates a variety of old and new urban  dance styles. The dancing represents
body movements that go with  the beat and rhythm of hip hop music.
Hip hop dancing is very dynamic
and helps the dancers improve flexibility, develop body balance, and coordination. 

 

GUITAR CLUB  
Teacher: Ashley Bitterman
Ages 9 & 10  Wednesdays   6:20 – 7:00
Ages 11-13  Wednesdays. 7:10 – 7:50
A small group introduction to learning guitar. Students will learn  about the instrument, basic chords, and   rhythm patterns.

BALLET TECHNIQUE  OPEN 
Teacher: Kate Orlando
Ages: 8 and up  
Wednesdays   6:00-6:40pm
Ballet is the foundation of many dance forms and will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

  

SONGWRITING WORKSHOP
Teacher: Ashley Bitterman
Ages 9 -10   Thursdays       5:20 – 6:00
Ages: 11 -13  Thursdays       6:10 – 6:50
This class will be focused on the art of song development. Students will learn self-expression  through lyrics and melodies. 

JAZZ TECHNIQUE OPEN  
Teacher: Roberta Curless
Ages: 8 and up                                                                     
Mondays 7:00-7:40pm
Jazz dance is an exploration of style and
presentation. Classes emphasize musicality
and body alignment, conditioning, stretch and strengthening, rhythm and stylization as well
as fun and innovative choreography.

 

ACTING OUT 
Teacher: Sarah Gafgen
Ages: 10 – 13 
Tuesdays  5:30 – 6:10
Students will then  begin creating characters that are exciting to them.  Using these characters, they will  create a storyline and write a play to  showcase those characters. As they focus on these characters they will continue to exercise all of their acting skills to better be heard and understood on stage. 

TAP TECHNIQUE OPEN LEVEL      
Teacher: Roberta Curless
Ages: 8 and up       
Mondays   6:00-6:40pm
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound.  Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement.  The class will  focus on the style of Rhythm Tap. 

 

BROADWAY AT HOME
Expanding your Performance Skills through Song and Dance

This next-level musical Theatre Class continues education & training of important musical theatre skills in singing, acting & dance through group work, individual performance, and theatre games.  

CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUE

Contemporary modern combines ballet and modern techniques with musical and emotional expression with a strong focus on modern techniques (contractions and release, off-center balances and suspension) as well as musicality and self-expression.

 

IMPROVISATIONAL ACTING (Improv)
Teacher: Rachel Maselak
AGES:  10 – 13    
Thursdays   5:20 – 6:00
In this class, students will challenge their wit and gain important theatrical skills through improv. We will break down the basic “rules” of improv and sharpen the ability to think on the spot through exercises and games. Students will be given the chance to perform completely improvised scenes with other classmates in a fun and supportive workshop-style setting, and an opportunity to discuss and analyze professional improvisational actor .

FLEXIBILITY WORKSHOP:
OPEN LEVEL

Ages 8 and up   
Wednesdays 7:00 – 7:40

This workshop will focus on the dancers flexibility through exercises and stretches to safely enhance their personal flexibility.  A strong and flexible body can create correct and safe lines in all forms of dance and enhance their technique.  

 

AUDITIONING FOR FILM/TV   
Teacher: Deckonti Tiah
Ages: 11 – High School         
Mondays 5:30 – 6:10

Students will be given the exciting opportunity
to work on scenes and audition
sides from the
latest television shows, movies, and commercials as well as original content. Each month
will focus on different acting techniques to hone their craft.

VOCAL INTENSIVE –

From preparing an audition to adding repertoire, or just learning new tools, this class focuses students on sharpening and developing musical performance
skills. It is designed to allow the student to learn from weekly one-on-one work as well as from watching other
students. Each month, students will be assigned a new song to work on for class which will be coached in a masterclass setting (aka zoom). On select months, we will have them themed toward a specific musical theatre genre.
