DANCE  

THEATRE/MUSIC 

BALLET  TECHNIQUE  OPEN   
Teacher: Kate Orlando
Ages: 8 and up  
Wednesdays   6:00-6:40pm
Ballet is the foundation of  many
dance forms and will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance,
self-discipline, and self-confidence.

 

AUDITIONING FOR FILM/TV
Teacher: Deckonti Tiah
Ages: 11 – High School
Mondays 5:30 – 6:10

Students will be given the exciting opportunity
to work on scenes and audition sides from the latest television shows, movies, and commercials as well as original content. Each month will focus on different acting techniques to hone their craft.  

JAZZ TECHNIQUE OPEN

Ages: 8 and up

Jazz dance is an exploration of style and presentation. Classes emphasize musicality and body alignment, conditioning, stretch and strengthening, rhythm and stylization as well as fun and innovative choreography.

VOCAL FOCUS –

From preparing an audition to adding repertoire, or just learning new tools, this class focuses students on sharpening and developing musical performance skills. It is designed to allow the student to learn from weekly one-on-one work as well as from watching other students. Each month,  students will be assigned a new song to work on for class which will be coached in a masterclass setting (aka zoom). On select months, we will have them themed toward  a specific musical theatre genre.

TAP TECHNIQUE OPEN LEVEL  
Teacher: Roberta Curless
Ages: 8 and up  
Mondays      6:00-6:40pm
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound.  Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement.  The class will  focus on the style of Rhythm Tap. 

 

HIGH SCHOOL ACTING
Teacher:  Ian Kimble
Ages: High School  
Tuesdays    6:20 – 7:00

Actors will meet weekly to expand upon the skills they’ve learned and study new forms of performance methods. Scene study will be an early focus, leading to character work and world-building techniques. We will have a focus on new media forms of performance as well as the individual performance with the desired result being a stronger ability to make interesting choices quickly. All of these skills will benefit the actors in auditions as well as on stage or on the set.  

ONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUE
OPEN LEVEL

Contemporary modern combines ballet
and modern techniques with musical and
emotional expression with a strong focus
on modern techniques (contractions and
release, off-center balances and suspension)
as well as musicality and self-expression.

 

SCREENWRITING- Comedy 
Teacher: Ian Kimble
Ages: High School  
Tuessdays     7:10 – 7:50
       
This class is an Intro to writing Comedic  
 movies. The class will begin by focusing on  
 the basics like format and style followed         
by structure and writing short scenes.    
The goal is to have a finished piece by the  
end of the class receiving feedback from        
the instructor and other students as the         
pieces are developed.

FLEXIBILITY WORKSHOP:
OPEN LEVEL 
Teacher: Steven Clair
Ages: 8 and up                                                                   Wednesdays 7:00 – 7:40

This workshop will focus on the dancers
flexibility through exercises and stretches
to safely enhance their personal flexibility. 
A strong and flexible body can create correct
and safe lines in all forms of dance and
enhance their technique.  

 

IMPROVISATIONAL ACTING
(Improv)  

Teacher: Rachel Maselak
Ages:  High School  

Wednesdays   5:20 – 6:00
In this class, students will challenge their wit and gain important theatrical skills through improv. We will break down the basic “rules” of improv and sharpen the ability to think on the spot through exercises and games. Students will be given the chance to perform completely improvised scenes with other classmates in a fun and supportive workshop-style setting, and an opportunity to discuss and analyze professional improvisational actor

How to create original characters  
and  storylines for a production–the goal is
to use improvisation exercises
to create an original short play for virtual performance.

This class will cover the basics of directing  
 for the stage (it will cover and build on      
 what was introduced during the virtual Summer Stage class).
