Title: Rise and Shine: It’s Wellness Time
Production Type: Live Interactive Performance
Target Audience: Grades 1-5 (Ages 6-11)Duration: 1 hour
Performance Locations: Schools throughout the South Jersey area, primarily based in Camden, NJ
Rehearsals will take place at Academy Hall, 27 S Black Horse Pike, Blackwood, NJ.
Seeking: 1 permanent cast member and 1-2 swing performers.
Mainstage Center for the Arts values representation and inclusivity. We welcome submissions from performers of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, and abilities. At this time we are specifically seeking submissions from members of communities that have been historically marginalized.
Join us for “Rise & Shine: It’s Wellness Time!” Created by Sarah Gafgen & Peter Andrew Danzig and Co-Directed by Erica Harr, at Mainstage Center for the Arts! Rise and Shine: It’s Wellness Time is an engaging, educational, and interactive performance aimed at promoting mental, physical, and emotional wellness to young audiences. The show will be performed in schools throughout the South Jersey area, with a focus on Camden, NJ.
This production is currently in development with the support of The Horizon Foundation of NJ and the William G. Rohrer Foundation. If you are passionate about working with children and have a flair for interactive, energetic performances, we’d love to hear from you!
DJ Fresh Eats/Jumpin Jackie/Dr. N Balance (Any Gender, Any Ethnicity):
A versatile character who plays multiple roles throughout the show, changing costumes and personalities to fit the role of a guest expert on wellness topics. Strong physicality and adaptability are key, as this actor will switch between multiple roles in quick succession.
Swing – This actor may be asked to learn multiple tracks in a 4 person show and should be comfortable portraying a wide variety of characters
– May 30 and June 2-4 , 10 am – 2 pm – Full rehearsal period
– June 5, July 23 and 24 – Performances in Camden County, NJ
Additional performances to be added from June 2025 – November 2025 pending availability, generally scheduled in the mornings.
