In-Classroom Creative Writing
An 8 week outreach program with professional theater artists guiding students through adapting a book into a fully staged play!

Residencies typically meet once per week for 1-2 hours per week, built around your academic calendar.

Cost begins at $150 per student.

Residency Options

  • After school drama clubs bring together students from a range of grades to work together. 11 or 15 week programs take students through creating a play from beginning to end. Students will adapt a book into a play, research locations and cultures, write a script,
audition and be cast, rehearse and finally perform their play in costume and on a student designed set for friends and family right at your school!
  • Classroom residencies focus on the creative writing element of the process. Teaching artists collaborate with classroom teachers in the adaptation and research process then take the lead to stage students in a “staged reading” style sharing of their finished script.
  • In all residencies students are also introduced to theatrical concepts such as set and costumes, performance techniques and general public speaking as well as learning time and project management.
